The Mind That Drives The Method

  • How did Slate of Mind come to be?

We all have moments when we feel stuck. Whether it’s about moving, quitting, physical fitness, or something else entirely, people face countless hurdles when confronted with change. So, we created a space with the resources to identify those hurdle(s) and make a plan to move through them.

  • A recent rabbit hole you fell into?

All things Nordic! Friluftsliv, sisu, hygge…the list goes on. And on.

  • A time when Change Leaders and Charting helped you?

I worked at Barneys New York and desperately wanted a new career path that would provide more financial security and the ability to work remotely. After identifying an interest in Legal Business Development, I read a tip that contacts were the best way into new jobs. So, I charted my goal and over the next three months steadily moved through each task—email a contact and ask for an informational meeting, call, or in-person meeting with them. The tip and chart worked; I landed a job at an amazing employer where I stayed for almost 15 years.

  • What’s one thing that surprised you about charting?

My chart didn’t always take me where I thought I wanted to go, but it always led me out of where I was and arguably to a better place.

  • What keeps you motivated?

I geek out over learning new things, whether it’s travel, culture, cooking, crafting, or something else entirely. It makes me feel like I’m on a path to somewhere better and helps me navigate whatever I’m going through in life. Oh, and this job! Who wouldn’t be motivated while learning from all of these fabulous Change Leaders?

  • When I’m not working on this business, I’m…

    Renovating my house!
